Großes Veranstaltungs- und Aktionswochenende am 19./20. Juni 1999 zum zehnjährigen Bestehen der Tibet Initiative Deutschland e.V. . Ein besonderes Ereignis an diesem Wochenende war das Lichtermeer auf dem Rhein - 12.000 Kerzen im Gedenken an 1,2 Millionen gewaltsam umgekommene Tibeter unter chinesischer Besetzung. Dieses Lichtermeer sollte ein Zeichen sein, das alle Veranstaltungsteilnehmer aufrüttelt und für die Geschehnisse in Tibet sensibilisiert. Dieser Aktion 12.000 Kerzen auf dem Rhein auszusetzen wurde anschließend für das Guinness Buch der Rekorde angemeldet. Die Regionalgruppe Münster der Tibet Initiative Deutschland e.V. bekam im August 2000 den Bescheid über den erfolgreichen Eintrag in das Guinness Buch der Rekorde.
The 10th anniversary of the Tibet Initiative Deutschland was celebrated in
Bonn during the weekend 19-20 June 1999 with several major events.
Particularly memorable was the sea of floating candles on the river Rhine.
12 000 candles honored the 1.2 million Tibetans who have lost their lives
under the Chinese occupation
Several thousand spectators were shaken emotionally by this sea of candles
which gave them plenty of food for thought about the situation in Tibet
The undertaking was reported to the Guinness Book of Records and was
accepted in September 2000. The document below proves the recording of this
