13 Mädchen von der Shrewsbury High School im westlichen Mittelengland sind in diesen Tagen zu Gast an der Marienschule. Sie werden begleitet von Jacky und Stephen Cooper sowie von Eileen Taylor.

Frau Runde, zuständig für den Austausch an der Marienschule, hat die Kontakte zu dieser englischen Mädchenschule geknüpft und ein interessantes Programm zusammengestellt, von Kultur bis Karneval.

Shrewsbury High School gehört zu den herausragenden Mädchenschulen in England. Diese private Schule verbindet Tradition und Modernes in bester Weise. Gegründet 1885, ist sie heute Mitglied des Girls' Day School Trust und wird von fast 500 Schülerinnen besucht. Sie hat viele sympathische Gemeinsamkeiten mit der Marienschule. Shrewsbury High School liegt mitten im grünen Zentrum von Shrewsbury, einer Stadt mit ca. 90.000 Einwohnern. Shrewsbury hat noch seinen mittelalterlichen Charme behalten und gehört neben Chester zu den Touristenattraktionen dieser Gegend. Dass Charles Darwin hier zur Schule gegangen ist, dürfte nicht nur Biologen interessieren.

Guests from Shrewsbury visit Marienschule

Thirteen girls from Shrewsbury High School in West Central England have spent the last few days as guests of the Marienschule.They are accompanied by Jacky and Stephen Cooper and by Eileen Taylor.

Frau Runde, who is in charge of international contacts and exchanges at this school, established contacs with this Einglish girls' school. She has put together an interesting programme, ranging from culture to carnival.

Shrewsbury High School is one of the outstanding girls' schools in England. This private school combines the best of the traditional and the modern. The school was founded in 1885, is a member of the Girls' Day School Trust and has almost 500 pupils.

Both schools have a lot of attractive features in common with one another. Shrewsbury High School is situated in the idyllic centre of the town, which has around 90.000 inhabitants. Shrewsbury has retained its medieval charm and along with Chester - is one of the main tourist attractions of this area.

The fact that Charles Darwin went to school here may be of interest not only to biologists.
