Seit der Teilung im Jahre 1947 gibt es an der über 3000 Kilometer langen Grenze zwischen Indien und Pakistan nur einen einzigen Übergang, den Checkpoint Wagah – für gewöhnliche Bürger nahezu unpassierbar. Täglich aber findet dort ein rituelles Spektakel statt: in Volksfeststimmung, unter dem Lärm militärischer Paraden, kann, wer nahe genug ans Tor gelangt, frühere Freunde und Bekannte auf der anderen Seite grüßen. Bis am Abend die Grenze im symbolischen Akt wieder geschlossen wird. Eine faszinierende Dokumentation des gebürtigen Inders Supriyo Sen.

Since their division in 1947, there are over 3,000 kilometers of borders between India and Pakistan with only one single crossing – checkpoint Wagah, which is nearly impassable for normal citizens. However, it is the scene for a spectacular daily ritual: With a party atmosphere amongst the noise of military parades, if you get close enough to the gates, you can greet friends and acquaintances from years passed on the other side. This continues until the evening, when border is closed in a symbolic act once again for the night. A fascinating documentary by Indian-born Supriyo Sen.
