Juha hat seine Arbeit schon vor Monaten verloren, aber er sagt seiner Frau nichts davon. Stattdessen schluckt er Pillen gegen die Depression, gaukelt Normalität vor, quält sich jeden Morgen um 5 Uhr aus dem Bett, verbringt die Zeit im Café oder steht sich in der Hoffnung auf Gelegenheitsjobs an der Tankstelle die Beine in den Bauch wie ein Stricher. Warum also nicht gleich so? Als eine ältere Frau ihm einen Tausender bietet, wenn er ihr nackt die Haare bürstet, ist die Geschäftsidee geboren. Er sieht nicht gerade wie ein Gigolo aus, aber passabel. Er kann den reifen Damen zuhören und mit Viagra auch mehr, und bedürftige Frauen gibt es genug. Wie andere Männer auch geht Juha nun mit dem Aktenkoffer bewaffnet arbeiten. Nur befinden sich darin keine Papiere, sondern Dildo und Peitsche. Die prekären Beschäftigungsverhältnisse von heute – hier werden sie ernst genommen. Dieses Beziehungsdrama über einen Finnen für gewisse Stunden ist beseelt von kompromissloser Komik und schroffer Tristesse. Es zeigt, dass jede Ich-AG ihren Preis hat. Und was es heißt, seine Haut zu Markte zu tragen.
Juha has lost his job months ago, but he doesn’t tell his wife about it. Instead he swallows pills to fight depression and feigns the normal life, getting up at five in the morning, spending time in cafés or hanging around the petrol station looking out for the occasional odd job just like a streetwalker. So why shouldn’t he go for the real thing? When an older woman offers him one thousand cash if he brushes her hair naked, his business plan takes shape. He may not really look like a gigolo, but he’s not too bad, either. He has a gift of listening to older ladies and with the help of viagra can do more for them, and there are more than enough women in need. Just like any other man Juha goes to work armed with an attaché briefcase. Only there are no papers inside, but a dildo and a whip. Today’s precarious modes of employment — this film takes them for what they are. The drama of relationships about a Finnish gigolo is fuelled by uncompromising comedy and harsh misery. It shows that any modern self-employment has its price to pay. And what it means to carry one’s own hide to market.
